A Night in Tinsel Town A Night in Tinsel Town, a grand musical directed by Jith Pieris will go on the boards at the Bishop's College auditorium at 7.30 p.m. on January 16 and 18. The audiences of Colombo are in for a grand musical treat in the production A Night in Tinsel Town. There will be orchestral music, individual artists playing a variety of instruments, five dance items and songs by groups and individuals. A dramatised item will be the dominant feature of the program. The artists in performance will be youngsters who have achieved merit indifferent fields. The show will be indeed very colourful and full of youthful energy. The orchestra and some of the singers will be the students of Mrs. Menaka Sahabandu. The instrumental items will be students of Miss Surekaha Amarasinghe. The dances are choreographed by the dynamic Manik Neydorf. The guest performances will be by Penny Ferdinand, Shenelle Fernando, Samantha Ferdinand and not surprisingly Angela Seneviratne, Chandana de Silva and a host of others. The broadway theme will be captured by songs of "Hit Musicals" of yesteryear and the dance items of the 1920s Charleston, an elegant top hat and tail dance and yet another from a well-known musical. The production directed by Jith Pieris will be in aid of a charitable organisation SUROL (Society for the Uplift and Rehabilitation of Leprosy patients.
