Two Lankans qualify as International Boxing Judges Two Asian (FAAB) qualified officials of the panel of Sri Lanka ABA boxing Judges further qualified themselves as International Judges (AIBA) at separate examinations held abroad last year. Captain R. K. Indrasena, the Army and National Boxing coach who qualified as a Referee / Judge of Sri Lanka ABA in 1993, further qualified himself as an Asian Referee / Judge in January 2002 at the FAAB examination held in Colombo. Last year in October he sat for the International examination and qualified as an AIBA Judge during the Green Hill Cup International Boxing Tournament held in Karachchi, Pakistan. He officiated as Referee / Judge at this tournament. Captain Indrasena is one of the best Referee / Judge of the Sri Lanka panel and has been trained by Guru Donald Munasinghe. Mrs. Nieva Embuldeniya, a Philippines lady married to Herbert Embuldeniya, a former International Boxing Juror, now taken up permanent residence in Sri Lanka since 1998 with her husband has also qualified as an International Boxing Judge at the AIBA Examination held in August last year during the 3rd Commonwealth Boxing Championship held in Kuala-Lumpur, Malaysia. She had officiated as a Judge at this meet. For the past 5 years she has officiated as a Judge at various boxing meets held in Sri Lanka. In 1998 she qualified as an Asian Judge. She also officiated as a neutral Judge at the 2nd Asian Women's Boxing Championship held in last November at Haryana, India. Neiva is a member of the International and Asian Women's Boxing Commissions. She was the Team Manager for the Sri Lanka Women's Boxing Team to the 2nd World Women's Amateur Boxing Championship in Antalya, Turkey in October 2002. The International Boxing Association, AIBA, has officially released the results. |
