After two decades of civil war peace has dawned and the ceasefire agreement was signed between the Government and the LTTE. There are forces which benefitted from the war and they want to sabotage the peace process. The working class should toil to defend the peace process. The government is following labour policies to suit the new conditions created to match globalisation and economic policies. We call upon the government to restore the rights back to workers and not to dance to the tune of the Trans National Corporation (TNC) and imperialist forces. Plantation workers are not paid a living wage. The struggles should be continued to secure the living wage and other rights including housing and equal rights. Discrimination against Tamil workers should be scrapped. Several other resolutions were also passed. |
