'Deputy Sanghanayaka, Matale North

Asgiri Karaka Sanghasabha (Executive Council) of the Siyam Maha Nikaya has bestowed the title 'Deputy Sanghanayaka of the Matale North' with the honorary degree Saddharma Keerthi Sri Jinarathana on Ven. Millawane Buddharakkhitha Thera, the chief incumbent of Ewariyapathaha ancient cave temple, Galewela.

The title certificate will be handed over to the Thera at Asgiriya temple on January 16. The new Deputy Nayaka Thera will be brought in a motorcade to Galewela Buddhist Centre from Medabedda Bodhimalu Viharaya on January 17 morning.

A colourful procession will be conducted to bring the Thera from Galewela Buddhist Centre to Ewariyapathaha temple.

Deputy head of the Asgiriya Chapter of the Siyam Maha Nikaya Most Ven. Galagama Sri Attadassi Maha Thera and Matale District MP Ranjith Aluvihare and many heads of Buddhist temples in the area and senior citizens have been invited to the special reception to be held to honour the Deputy Nayaka Thera.
