Not the German style of education!

by Wadduwa special correspondent

The German national reported missing arrived in Sri Lanka to assist poor children in their education.

He joined hands with a local politician at grass roots level in Beruwala to launch his educational project for the needy children.

However, the style of education he had adopted for the poor children in the Southern town looked quite different to that in his native country.

The style of German assistance for educating the poorer class at Beruwala came into light when a mother of a child engaged in the project complained to the Aluthgama Police.

The allegation was that her fifteen year old son had been taken to a hotel by this German national and abused. Nimal Ratnayake, Officer-in-Charge of Aluthgama Police moved into inquire the complaint and found evidence of child abuse committed by the suspect German and the local politician.

There had been evidence to prove that even the children had been photographed in unwarranted postures.

Police swiftly arrested a suspect involved in the ring from Beruwala and produced him before the Kalutara Magistrate, Sumith Aruna Perera who remanded the suspect till January 21.

Court was told that the suspects have enticed the children by giving them money in local currency and Euro notes. The German mastermind behind the operation is reported to have fled the country.
