Laugfs opens fourth branch at Boralesgamuwa

The fourth outlet of the Laugfs Sunup Supermarket (Pvt) Ltd. was opened at Boralesgamuwa last week. The management hopes to open their fifth branch at Kohuwela next week.

According to the Chairman of Laugfs, W.K.H. Wegapitiya they hope to branch out to the outstations as well. He said that they introduced the 24-hour supermarketing concept to Sri Lanka and their domestic gas cylinders too are gaining popularity. "Laugfs command over 35 percent of the market," he said.

"Our aim is to cater to the majority of the suburban population. We guarantee freshness of our vegetables and all other products. Most importantly we get down our vegetables directly from Nuwara Eliya to provide fresh vegetables to customers."

"We have got the best equipment in the market and we could always maintain the quality levels of our products" and they have also received the licence to market spirits. During the diversification process extending the Laugfs group business portfolio to the business of retail sector was one of the greatest milestones, the organisation achieved, "We were the pioneer in operating the first ever fully-fledged convenient store amalgamated within a fuel retail outlet open 24 hours in Sri Lanka." For the first time they hope to open a mega motor complex for all motor vehicle needs in Colombo. It is due to be opened early next month.

Among the main services which would be offered at the proposed motor complex include conversion of petrol vehicles to LP gas, servicing and providing all kinds of petroleum and petroleum based products. He said that they were the market leader in the conversion of petrol vehicles to LP gas and was the first company to construct high-pressure Gas tanks in Sri Lanka. - (SS)
