J-Biz meets supportive groups Joint Business Forum (J-Biz) will meet again at the Chamber of Commerce at Navam Mawatha, Colombo 2 to discuss further action in resolving the current political impasse. After discussions with business leaders on Thursday, the J-Biz held an emergency meeting following day and decided to invite the President and the Prime Minister together for discussion with the J-Biz regarding joint action to clear the prevailing political situation which had affected the business community, a press release issued by the J-Biz stated. J-Biz has invited leaders of a larger group of civil societies, religious organisations and NGOs for discussion today as they can influence politicians directly, a J-Biz spokesman told the daily News. He said J-Biz hopes to convince them the gravity of the current situation and obtain their support in pressurising the two leaders to come to early consensus and prevent grave consequences on society at large. The meeting will discuss logistics and other details of organising a peaceful demonstration in Colombo to convey the views of business and civil society to the political leadership. The J-Biz also intends to formulate an action plan thereafter to assist in resolving the existing political impasse. |
