Musharraf briefs Kashmiri leaders on talks with Vajpayee ISLAMABAD, Friday (AFP) Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf briefed Kashmiri leaders on his historic talks with Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and the resumption of bilateral dialogue next month, officials said. Leaders of the Pakistani zone of the divided state and representatives of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) engaged in a separatist drive in the Indian zone participated in the meeting at his official residence in the adjacent garrison city of Rawalpindi. President Musharraf assured the Kashmiri leaders they would be included in discussions to broker a peace in the divided state, officials said. He expressed the hope that Pakistan-India peace process would move forward for achievement of lasting peace and sustainable progress in South Asia. "This is a good beginning and I have hope that with sincerity, the two sides will move forward," he was quoted as saying. Musharraf informed the Kashmiri leaders that the agreement between Indian and Pakistani was a "victory for all those who believe in moderation and desire peace in the region." |
