Lanka Registry flags Panamax tanker The Sri Lankan Registrar of Ships has registered the 61,300 ton Panamax Tanker Olympic under the Lankan Flag. It is a welcome addition to the Sri Lanka Ship Registry and is a direct result of the efforts of the Minister of Ports Development and Shipping and the Merchant Shipping Division to revive and attract vessels to register in Sri Lanka. The Olympic will be the largest vessel under the Sri Lanka Registry and complies fully with all national and international regulations that govern operations and worldwide trading of Panamax Oil tankers. The vessel is classed with Lloyds of London and has a condition assessment program rating of CAP 2, another first for a Sri Lanka registered vessel. The Olympic is a double sided motor tanker and is owned by Lanka Bunkering Services (Pvt) Ltd., a BOI Company incorporated to undertake bunkering in Sri Lanka. The Company is a joint venture between Sri Lanka Shipping Company Limited, a diverse local Shipping Organisation and Chemoil Corporation of USA a worldwide bunker operator with annual sales of 20 million tons. Lanka Bunkering Services (Pvt) Ltd will invest U$ 10 million in the project and intends to purchase smaller tankers to support its operations. The additional vessels will also be registered under the Sri Lanka Registry. Lanka Bunkering Services (Private) Ltd will employ the services of a professional ship manager in Singapore Link Marine (Pte) Ltd for management and operation of the motor tanker Olympic . Link Marine Pte Ltd are certified by Lloyds for ISM. Link Marine Pte Ltd. has been appointed Ship Managers of the motor tanker Olympic. Link Marine specialises in the ship management of oil tankers and is ISM Certified by Lloyds of London. |
