'Every leader must first think of his country'

by Ariyaratne Ganegoda

Al Seyyid Ashsheik Ajwad Abdullah Al Fassi Al Macci Ash Shazulee, a leading member of the Kaba Mosque of Mecca who is now on a tour of Sri Lanka, addressed media personnel at the Ummu Savaya Mosque, M.J.M.Lafeer Mawatha, Colombo 12 recently. He was accompanied by his son Al Seyyid Ashsheik Muhammad Ajwad Al Fassi.

Answering the media personnel he stressed that every leader of a country must first think of his country before thinking of anything else and that they must shed all of differences and act together in unity in the face of crises confronting his country. "Saudi Arabia has maintained cordial relationship with Sri Lanka over a very long period and has helped her at various stages.

On religious grounds my family is prepared to support the cause of peace in Sri Lanka, personally.

The world population is the offspring of a single mother. God will bless those who unite to usher in peace" observed the visiting Islamic religious leader. His Arabic speech was translated into Tamil by Dehiwala Mt. Lavinia MMC Nazushan Hassen. Ummu Savaya Mosque President Makey Asim Hassen attended the occasion.
