by Sandasen Marasinghe The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. made a financial contribution towards the Mahagamasekara Foundation to conduct a memorial ceremony, to commemorate the great sinhala poet and lyricist Mahagamasekara for his contribution to the Sinhala arts. The 28th memorial ceremony organised by the Mahagamasekara Foundation will be held at the Ananda Samarakoon studio of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation on January 14. ANCL will extends its full patronage the ceremony. B. Galappatty, former secretary of the Mahagamasekara Foundation thanked the chairman of the ANCL Kesarralal Gunasekera who gave a helping hand to make the event a reality to recognise the services of Mahagamasekara as a poet, lyricist, artist, novelist, short story writer and a film director. Professor J. B. Dissanayake and Pandith Dr. W. D. Amaradeva will deliver lectures at the memorial ceremony while the winners of All Island Mahagamasekara memorial competition will receive awards and the certificates. |
