Colombo East Group Corr. Ven. Ahangama Ananda Nayaka Thera, Viharadhipati of Vijayarama Vihara and its educational centre in Wellawatte was felicitated at the BMICH last Tuesday by the Jayawardenapura Gunasamaru Padanama of Battaramulla for the unblemished services rendered by him for the propagation of the Buddhist dispensation, Sinhala culture, literature and the establishment of unity and harmony amongst all ethnic communities in the country, particularly in times of ethnic strife. He has courageously visited strife torn areas in the North and East and helped the suffering people without racial or religious discrimination in many ways said the organisers of the function. In the presence of the religious dignitaries of the three Nikayas, State Ministers and a representative gathering of the public. Ven. Ahangama Ananda Nayaka Thera was conferred the prestigious title 'Vishva Keerti Shri Sahitya Visharadha Pragnalokabhimani. Ven. Ananda is a member of the Executive Committee of the Amarapura Dharmarakshita Nikaya, President of the Maha Savia Foundation, member of the Hela Havula, Patron of the Shri Lankadhara Samitiya of Wellawatte and an executive member of several religious, cultural and literary associations. For the services rendered to religious propagation, social uplift, racial harmony and well-being of humanity, the secretary of the Dharmodaya Vihara in Wellawatte, Badulle Vaduge Sumanadasa was felicitated and conferred the title 'Dharma Prasada Desha Mamaka' on the occasion. Media expert and literary critic and author, Sunil Sarath Perera was also felicitated and conferred the title 'Madya Kala Keerthi Sahitya Suri'. |
