Membership of the Sanasa Banks in the Matara district is over 60 thousand and the number of rural Sanasa Banks in the district are over 460, said S. Senanayake, General Manager, District Sanasa Union, Matara.

Sanasa Movement has already made a positive contribution for the welfare and well-being of its members in Sri Lanka. It is a endeavouring hard to uplift the rural economy in the country.

The significant achievement made by Sanasa would be the implementation of rural economic promotional programmes throughout the country for the good of its membership, he told.

There are 12 regional Sanasa offices at Divisional Secretariat Division level in the Matara district at the moment. A novel programme has also being launched to reactivate inactive rural Sanasa Bank branches with poor performances. In addition measures have been taken to strengthen the Sanasa management as well in the district, he noted.

The prime responsibility of the Sanasa District Union would be to provide proper guidance and management assistance to rural bank branches.
