by Sarath Malalasekera Four new police posts-Poovarasanthivu, Nadduttu, Mahamawa Kulam and Surangal have been set-up in the Eastern Province to protect Muslims in this area. Security in Sammchtive, Kinniya, Alankerny, Kurihjankerui and Addumu have been strengthened with Army support, Trincomalee Senior SP Upali Hewage investigating on the direction of Eastern Range DIG Neville Wijesinghe said. For the last 72 hours there had been no incidents reported. Police in the area had met the affected Muslims and religious leaders along with politicians to bring peace and harmony to the area. The entire area was peaceful, the senior SP said. |
