The seven-a-side soccer championship organised by State Services Football Association will be held this Saturday (6 Dec.) at Sports Ministry Grounds. Reid Avenue commencing at 10.00 am. This was disclosed at a press briefing held at Salu Sala Board Room recently by President of State Services Football Association A. Fazal Hameed.

Addressing the mediamen he said 16 teams will compete in this tournament with many national players to engaged in. He said that he is hoping to select a team to make few tours abroad for players to get more experience which would also help develop the game of Soccer. During my tenure of office I will assist in every possible way to improve the standard of soccer in the Govt. Sector", he said.

The opening ceremony will be conducted with Western Province Development Minister M. H. Mohamed as chief guest, while Commissioner General of Prisons R. Marzoor as guest of honour. Minister of Trade and Consumer Affairs Ravi Karunanayake is scheduled to be the chief guest in the evening for the awards ceremony.

The participating teams are Central Bank SC, Salu Sala SC, Dept. of Prisons, Govt. Press, Excise Dept, Postal Dept., Colombo Municipality, Kotte Municipality, Kandy Municipality, Ratnapura MC, Nuwara Eliya TC, Galle TC, Kurunegala TC.
