Cedric chairman of WICF It was a very proud moment for the Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association (CICA) and indeed Sri Lanka, when, for the very first time a Sri Lankan was appointed to head the Marketing Committee of the WICF. Cedric Anthony, who introduced Indoor Cricket to Sri Lanka, and who is a founder member of the Governing Body of CICA was unanimously appointed for the coming term. At the Annual General Meeting, which was held on 27th November 2003 in Brisbane, priority was given to matters pertaining to the World Cup which will be held in October next year at Austasia Sports complex, Thalawathugoda. Along with Cedric's appointment, Hiran de Mel, Sri Lanka's only WICF qualified umpire was also granted a place as a member of the Technical Committee of the WICF. This is the first time that these prestigious portfolios have been granted to an Asian country. There are many international tours that have been confirmed, details of which will be announced in the coming week. CICA is confident that as per the meeting, most of the full member countries will be visiting Sri Lanka before the 2004 World Cup. CICA is looking forward to a fruitful Indoor Cricketing year. |
