Sri Lankan team for Dubai Rugby Sevens SriLankan Airlines rugby team set off for Dubai to participate in the annual Dubai Rugby Sevens Tournament to be held from 3rd - 5th December at Dubai Exiles Rugby Club. SriLankan Airlines made its debut at Dubai Sevens in 2000. Ever since the airline has taken the game very seriously and has made a very big impact in the Mercantile Rugby arena. In the year 2002 SriLankan Airlines reached semi-finals of the Plate Championship at the Mercantile Rugby Sevens and reached the cup quarter-finals this year. The SriLankan Airlines team is led by former national player and CH&FC lock forward Rasanjana Seneviratne. He will be joined by three other inter-club A division players - Roy Nishantha, Saranga Jayakody and Sunandha Malewana and two junior national players, Rangana Senadheera and Delan Abdeen. The team is coached by national coach Chandrishan Perera is a well balanced and bound to produce good results this year. The team comprises: Rasanjana Seenviratne (Capt), Nimesh Amarasinghe, Roy Nishantha, Delan Abdeen, Saranga Jayakody, Sumedha Malewana, Rangana Senadeera, Ifthad Shariff, Sanjaya Jirasinghe, Imran Hannan, Ratnam Kannan, Saliman Buckman, Chamara Perera and Dilshan Jamel (Manager). |
