Felicitations to Romania

The President, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs have sent felicitation messages to their counterparts on the occasion of the National Day of Romania, which fells on December 1.

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in a message to H.E. Ion Iliescu, President of Romania states:

It gives me great pleasure to convey to Your Excellency, the Government and the people of Romania my warm congratulations and sincere felicitations, on the happy occasion of the National Day of Romania.

I have no doubt that the close and friendly relations that exist between our two countries will continue to expand in the years to come.

May I take this opportunity to convey my best wishes for your personal health and happiness and for the continued progress and prosperity of Romania."

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in a message to H.E. Adrian Nastase, Prime Minister of Romania states:

"On behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka and my own behalf it gives me great pleasure to express to Your Excellency, the Government and the people of Romania our warm congratulations and sincere good wishes on the happy occasion of the National Day of Romania.

Relations between Sri Lanka and Romania have always been close and cordial. I am certain that these relations will continue to flourish in the years ahead. Accept Excellency, my best wishes for Your Excellency's good health and personal well-being.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Tyronne Fernando PC, MP in a message to H.E. Mircea Dan Geoana, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania states:

"I would like to express my warm felicitations to Your Excellency, the Government and the people of Romania on the happy occasion of the National Day of Romania.

I am confident that the close friendship and mutual understanding that so happily exist between our two countries will continue to strengthen in the years to come.
