Fun Golf at Victoria Links By Kandy Sports Corr. Victoria Golf and Country Resort has introduced a number of new types of golf competition for its members and some of them being 'Fun Golf' - away from the conventional golf for the participants to relax and play to enjoy the game. This is indeed commendable which in a way helps the members to be in touch with the game apart from the practice sessions. One of the fun golf competition is the Mulligan competition which takes the players to the lighter side of golf which is rather a serious game and when it comes to sponsorship and competition, it is only second to formula motor racing. The players are allowed to half their handicap in the Mulligan competition. This they could do anywhere in the course but the participants ought to be careful and it is the wise use of the Mulligan which will pay dividence. At the Mulligan Competition held last week, it was expatriate Ina Rasmussen the winner with a Nett score of 63. A Stablaford competition was also held and the recent rains in the hills made the course lush and green and the large number of competitors enjoyed the day out in the sun in this 18 hole course. M. Sano was in the lead with 36 nett at the start but this score was soon bettered by Japanese K. Hama and the Director/General Manager of the Victoria Golf Links Tony Witham who appears to be improving with every game. But in the end Peter Bright ran out winner with 41 points Nett. These competitions were a good move by the Victoria Golf and Country Resort who are endeavouring their best to population golf through various competitions designed from serious golf to fun golf and make the club active all year round with a large number of foreign tourists making their way to this challenging course to have a go. |
