Lanka 'A' 340: India 'A' 203/3

Sri Lanka 'A' resuming on the second day at 255-3, were dismissed for 340 after losing their captain Naveed Nawaz who was forced to retire hurt at his overnight total on 17 on the second day of the second 4-day unofficial cricket Test against India 'A' at Nehru Stadium, Pune on Sunday.

By stumps India 'A' had replied strongly with 203-3 with opener Gautam Gambhir stroking an unbeaten 117 off 183 balls inclusive of 17 fours.

Nawaz' early departure saw Sri Lanka 'A' fail to consolidate from their strong overnight position. They lost Lanka de Silva and Kaushal Weeraratne in one over from paceman Bhandari to slide to 264-5.

But Anushka Polonowita and Rangana Herath indulged in a 53-run stand for the sixth wicket to push the total beyond the 300-run mark. But Bhandari returning for a late spell ran through the rest of the batting as Sri Lanka 'A' lost their last five wickets for 23 runs to be all out for 340.

Herath made 40 off 64 balls with six fours, and Polonowita, 23 off 55 balls with one six and one four.

Bhandari finished with impressive figures of five for 70 off 28 overs.
