By Wadduwa Special Correspondent Payagala Police arrested a wife of a local newspaper correspondent who posed off as a Director of a 'Sanasuma' Foundation Institute and collected several lakhs of rupees from the people by misappropriation, was produced before Kalutara Magistrate Sumith Aruna Perera. The Magistrate ordered, that Anula Ambalangoda of Payagala the treasurer of 'Sanasuma' Foundation and the local correspondent of a Sinhala newspaper be remanded till December 9, 2003. Payagala OIC, C. W. Wickramasekera told the media that Sena Ambalangoda, who appeared as a local correspondent of a newspaper and also the Working Director of the 'Sanasuma' Foundation Institute was involved in alleged fraud by collecting one million rupees from the public and evading arrest. He also said that a special team of police officers have been deployed to arrest the suspect. Police are also seeking to question a local correspondent of Matugama and Agalawatta, who is supposed to be the deputy chairman of 'Sanasuma' Foundation regarding the racket. Police said that the Foundation has collected funds from the people of Kalutara, Payagala, Alutgama and Ratnapura areas. A special team of Payagala police are conducting investigations. |
