President should support peace process - TULF President

Taking into consideration the welfare of the people and realising her duty to provide peaceful life for the people, the President should sort out matters with the Prime Minister without delay and give support for the peace process along with the Prime Minister, TULF President V. Anandasangaree said yesterday.

He said: "The sufferings the people of this country underwent and the losses sustained by them due to the ethnic problem during the past many years cannot be described in words. The people were so hopeful of a settlement when the Norwegians came forward as facilitators.

"The Norwegians who toiled hard all these days unmindful of the embarrassments and disgrace they faced are now hesitating to go ahead. They have suspended their activities till the matters are settled between the President and the Prime Minister. This decision of the Norwegians has shocked not only the Tamils but also every section of the people in this country.

It is obvious that the cause for this confused situation is the changes made in the Cabinet Portfolios by the President. This stagnant situation will seriously affect the economy and the future of the Nation".
