Presidential Media denies TV report

Presidential Secretariat Media Director General Janadasa Peiris last night denied a news report of a private television channel, through their nightly news bulletin that President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has come to an agreement with regard to the three ministries, recently taken over by the President.

He said no meeting was held between the PM and the President on this subject hence the news was completely false. Peiris said the President has no intention of handing back the three ministries.

Government Spokesman Gairuka Perusinghe endorsed his statement saying that he too, was not aware of such an arrangement.
