Antonian past cricketers donate cricket materials With the contribution received by the past cricketers of St. Anthony's College, Wattala, Cricket materials were donated to the school last Saturday at a simple ceremony held at the College premises. On behalf of the organizing committee, Elvis Koelmeyer, who is also a past student of the college addressing the gathering thanked all the past cricketers who contributed wholeheartedly and lavishly towards the event. He further said that during the past the college has produced two national cricketers, two schoolboy cricketers and several Bata, Observer award winners year after year. He also said that the past cricketers are disappointed with the performances of the college first eleven team, which has declined since late. He further requested the present cricket team to put their heart and soul to the game of cricket and be upgraded to "B" Division cricket next year. Presently the college side is playing in the "C" Division cricket tournament. Principal Malcolm Perera and Noel Jansz also addressed the gathering, and thanked the past cricketers and the organizing committee for taking an interest to assist the school to develop the game of cricket. |
