Move to encourage young entrepreneurs to launch IT companies by Sudarshana Perera In a move to incubate innovative ideas and encourage young entrepreneurs to start IT companies, Sri Lanka Technology Incubator (Pvt) Ltd has started an assistance program "Conceptnursery.com". This move is expected to stimulate the growth of IT industries while uniting ICT professionals. "Under this program, we provide advice and guidance on all aspects of running a business. Conceptnursery.com will also offer network relationship with other IT and related business with internet, telephone, board room, and business plan development facilities " said Dr Lalith Gamage, CEO/Managing Director SLIIT and Director of Conceptnusery.com Adressing a media briefing to announce a workshop on e-marketing to be held from November 21 to 22 at Trans Asia ,Dr Gamage said that this concept of technology incubating was first of its kind in Sri Lanka.This workshop on eMarketing is targeted for exporters, senior managers and marketers and entrepreneurs and will focus on risk, exploit eOpportunity, estimate the cost of eMarketing and other related areas. "ConceptNursery is established to incubate technology centric innovative ideas, which would not only stimulate growth of the Sri Lankan IT industry, but also simultaneously encourage local entrepreneurial investment" he said. Dr. Gamage also said that their primary goal is to identify, recruit and build new companies involved in cutting-edge technologies that would support the development of a highly skilled IT workforce, conduct advanced R&D in web and wireless technology and enhance the economic development of Sri Lanka through the creation of wealth and opportunities. Conceptnursery is also a joint venture within the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT)People's Venture Investment Company (Pvt)Ltd, MediaSolv.com Inc and Prudential Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. Technology Incubation is a dynamic process of business development. Incubators nurture young firms, helping them to survive and grow during the critical start-up stage when they are most vulnerable. Globally, the concept of Technology Incubation has proven to reduce the failure rate of new start up companies involved in information technology. In doing so they create employment and assist local and regional economic development. Technology incubation involves the facilitation of both structural facilities and management oriented services designed to assist new and growing businesses involved in developing cutting edge technology to become established and profitable by providing premises, advice, services and support.
