President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has denied that the peace
process with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is at risk due to
her takeover of three key government portfolios, in an interview broadcast

Kumaratunga will be asked to carry the peace process forward since several
institutions vital for the process were now under her control. No development possible without peace -Prof. G. L Prof. G. L. Peiris said that political stability should prevail
throughout the country if the people are to reap the maximum benefits from
various development projects that have sprung up around the country after
the Government ushered in peace to which it is totally committed. Helgessen, Solheim arrive today by Ranga Jayasuriya Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Vidar Helgessen and special envoy
Erik Solheim will arrive in Colombo today on a visit earlier aimed at
making arrangements for a meeting between the Government and the LTTE to
