National Elle finals today

The finals of the National Elle championship will be conducted today at the Sugathadasa Stadium in a day night encounter with the second half under floodlight, which will be a first in the history of 'Elle'.

The two teams in the finals are "Yakkaduwa Sri Weeragamini Sports Club" Ja-ela and "Mudu Katuwa Fathima Sports Club" Marawila.

Total number of teams registered in the tournament were 71 of which 04 were disqualified for not reporting to the venue on time. Discipline was strictly enforced in order to bring prestige to the sport.

The entire tournament was sponsored by "EAP Networks (Pvt) Ltd." and the cash awards for the winners, 1st runner up and 2nd runner-up are; 1st prize Rs. 50,000, 2nd prize Rs. 30,000 and 3rd Rs. 20,000 respectively, a total of Rs 100,000/- and the Challenge trophy. This is also the highest ever monies paid out to any team in any 'Elle' tournament.

Besides these awards, push cycles with the compliments of 'Lanik Sports' will be given to the 'Highest Scorer', 'Most number of Catches taken by an Individual' and 'Player of the tournament'. A draw will also be held on the 'Free Entrance'ticket and the lucky winner will be awarded a push cycle with the compliments of Winfield Associates (Pvt) Ltd.

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Johnston Fernando will be the chief guest.
