Western Province North Outer under 16 cricket champions Western Province North Outer consisting of Gampaha and Puttalam Districts emerged Champions in the Under-16, Inter-Provincial Tournament conducted by the "National Development Centre" of Sri Lanka Cricket. Nine (9) Provincial teams took part in the limited over league competition. Teams were grouped into three groups. The Preliminary round matches were played at Galle and Matara Districts on the 14th, 15th, 16th of October 2003, and final round matches were played in Colombo. Final Round Teams Western Province North Outer, Western Province South Outer, Western Province South. Western Province North Outer (Gampaha/Puttalam District) beat Western Province South Outer and Western Province South, to become Champions in the Inter-Provincial Tournament 2003. Results as follows: Western Province South Outer vs Western Province North Outer at Colombo University Grounds - (44 overs match) on October 27. Chief scores: Western Province South Outer 127 in 40.3 overs (Thalindu Thirimanne 37, Kasun Lakshan 16, Suminda Priyankara 16, Prabath Channa 4 for 34, Roshan Silva 2 for 23, S. Madushan 2 for 27). Western Province North Outer 128 for 2 in 37.1 overs (Tyron Buddika 23, Roshan Silva 58 not out, Nilusha Nonis 16 not out). Western Province South vs Western Province South Outer played on October 28. Western Province South 206 in 49.5 overs all out (Dilan Nanayakkara 47, Sachitra Serasinghe 19, Madawa Warnapura 31, M. Weerasinghe 41, Suminda Priyankara 2 for 17, Manuk Umesh 2 for 41). Western Province South Outer 208 for 9 wickets in 48.3 overs (Amal Maduranga 32, Thanuj Perera 58, Dilhan Cooray 20, Manuk Umesh 22, Suminda Priyankara 26, Isuru Gunasena 23 not out. (WPSO won by 1 wicket). Western Province South vs Western Province North Outer played on October 29. Western Province South 112 all out in 41.4 overs (Kasun Weerasinghe 29, Milinga Weerasinghe 22, Channa Prabath 3 for 14, Weranga Kaldera 2 for 24). Western Province North Outer 115 for 4 wickets in 30.3 overs (Tyron Buddika 26, Nayanajha Hewawasam 19 not out, Hesitha Eranga 12). (WPNO won by 6 wickets). |
