News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | Social Welfare Ministry counselling service extended by Nadira Gunatilleke The Social Welfare Ministry has expanded its counselling service by opening several more counselling centres at Divisional Secretariats and District Secretariats countrywide. At present ten counselling centres operate countrywide, a Social Welfare Ministry spokesman said. He said that counselling centres have been opened at Tanamalwila, Mulatiyana, Homagama, Mallawapitiya, Madampe, Baddegama and Wennappuwa Divisional Secretariats and the District Secretariat of Polonnaruwa. Another counselling centre has been set up at the National Institute of Social Development, Talawa, Anuradhapura. The counselling centres set up at the Ambalanthota Divisional Secretariat will commence its operations before the end of this month while two more counselling centres will be set up at the District Secretariats of Batticaloa and Vavuniya before the end of this year. Privacy of the clients will be strictly protected when they obtain the service of these counselling centres. Special programmes will be launched soon to cover the inmates of child probation institutes. The same programme will extend to re-integrated persons who were being treated at mental hospitals. |
