by Udula Peiris The second Convention of the International Children's Art Foundation under the International Peace Programme is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in a few months. "Peace Through Literature" will be the theme of the event at this Convention. Children's Books Association of Colombo is handling the organizational activities in this connection. The Children's Art Foundation is an organization operating under Madam Fullbright who is one of the most accredited social workers in USA.The opportunity to hold the second convention in Sri Lanka was obtained through the tireless efforts of Professor Ishak Ashwa of Washington University, USA who is in charge of the organizational activities relating to the Foundation.A large number of countries who are currently facing situation of war competed to seize this opportunity hoping to foster peace through literature. The reputation the Children's Books Association of Colombo has built up during the past 24 years, and the special recognition it received at the last World Olympic Literary Festival held in Washington with the participation of 73 countries stood in good stead to win this rare chance of holding this convention in Sri Lanka. The last Convention which was the first ever was held in Philippine. This convention will give the academics, educationalists, media personnel and writers the opportunity to stress the strategy of establishing world peace through literature.
