Jiffrey Abdeen - Kandy South Group Correspondent The Tissa Attanayake Conference Hall constructed in the Uda-Dumbara electorate of the Kandy District was opened by the Minister of Central Region Development and Kandy District MP Tissa Attanayake on Sunday, November 2. This Conference Hall has been a long felt need for the Uda-Dumbara area which borders Mahiyangana and this will help the people of the area to hild their functions. Hitherto they did not have this facility. The residents of the area have expressed profound happiness as their cherished dream has finally materialised. This Conference Hall has been constructed by the Kandyan Peasantry Commission which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Central Region Development at a cost of Rs. 86 lakhs under the 2 KR Aid Programme. This hall is equipped with all facilities and has seating accommodation for 500 persons. With the opening of this Conference Hall the residents of this area who are poor farmers will have a facility where they could have educational functions, conferences, cultural shows, weddings, dramas, and film shows and other shows and social activities. This will also help the school children to have their dramas and a variety entertainment shows which will help to improve their performances, said Minister Tissa Attanayake. |
