Inaugural seaplane flight from Lake Gregory on Nov. 10

P. Rajaratnam in Nuwara Eliya

The inaugural flight and landing of the Sea Plane at Lake Gregory is scheduled for November 10, Monday at the Lake Gregory, as part of the tourist promotion.

This was announced by the Mayor of Nuwara Eliya Chandana Karunaratne, and already the Mayor and other officials concerned were busy over the weeks in getting the Lake cleaned with the removal of the silt and salvinia.

Mayor Karunaratne, said that with the regular flights, Nuwara Eliya, which is the only National Health Resort of the country will be greatly benefited, and he hopes to provide additional attractions for the benefit of the tourists at this Health Sanatorium.

Secretary of the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club Clive Tissera, says that at the moment many of the foreign tourists, patronise the golf club and its historical course, and if the regular air flights work out, the club will be mostly patronised by the foreign holiday crowds.
