Suspects including journalists evading arrest

by Sarath Malalasekera

Ten suspects including six journalists wanted in connection with the attack on the Sinhala-Tamil cultural event at New Town Hall last Wednesday are evading arrest, police said.

Investigators searching for the journalist suspects found some of their houses shut while others had left their homes.

"They are not at their residences," Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) Director Senior SP Sarath Lugoda told the Daily News yesterday.

The CCD is investigating jointly with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Several persons including a journalist were injured in the attack carried out by a mob which included Sihala Urumaya activists on event participants.
