No. 1 and 2 seeds set for final showdown The final stage was reached at the ITF Grand Slam Development Fund men's futures US $ 10,000 F2 tennis tournament yesterday at the Green Path Courts of the SLTA. The finals will see the two top players of the tournament, No. 1 seed Jaroslav Pospisil of the Czech Republic pitted against No. 2 seed Kim Young Joon of Korea in the final. Earlier the Czech ranked 342 in world played Bo-Ram Cha of Korea in the semi-finals which he won easily 6/3, 6/3. Kin ranked 380th in the world at the start of this tournament had no problems in defeating his semi-final opponent Norikan Sugiyama of Japan 6/2, 6/2. The final will be a close affair as both players who have not been challenged by any other player during the course of the two back to back ITF tournaments held over the last two weeks. In fact neither player has even lost a set throughout the T2 tournament. The finals are scheduled to commence at 10.00 a.m. today. In doubles the final ended in an anti-climax as the Borgula/Kutac combination was forced to retire without a ball being hit. This was due to the local weather taking its toll on Borgula who was suffering with heat exhaustion. The win was awarded to the all Czech duo of Pospisil/Karol. |
