Career Guidance Centre opened at Ballapana

Tertiary Education and Training Minister Kabeer Hashim, under his Ministry's programme of establishing 52 Career Guidance and Consultant Centres throughout the country to function as guidelines for talent promotion declared open such a Centre and refurbished a number of Vocational Training Centres in the Kegalle District and vested them in the students recently.

The total cost of these facilities was Rs.100 million out of which Rs.3.5 million was spent for the Career Guidance Centre and the fully equipped Computer Education Resource Centre located at the Vocational Training Centre of Ballapana, Kegalle. Parallel to the event Minister Hashim also declared open and vested in the students an Information Technology Centre in the Kegalle Town and a Rural Vocational Training Centre at Moronthota.

The Programme is pioneered by the Tertiary Education and Training Ministry, funded by the Asian Development Bank and assisted by the Skill Development Project. The ADB expects to spend Rs.30 million for each of the 52 Career Guidance and Consultant Centres.
