Lanka-Indonesia Business Council sets up counterpart council

The Sri Lanka-Indonesia Business Council, which functions under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, an institution with a history of 165 years, has set up its counterpart council, The Indonesia-Sri Lanka Business Council in Indonesia.

Several years of discussions between the Committee of the Sri Lanka-Indonesia Business Council and H.K.J.R. Bandara, Ambassador for Sri Lanka in Indonesia, resulted in the formation of the Indonesia-Sri Lanka Business Council. The Sri Lankan Embassy in Indonesia and H.K.J.R. Bandara, played the key role in facilitating the establishment of this Council. At the inaugural meeting held at the residence of Bandara, approximately thirty-five Indonesian businessmen trading with Sri Lanka and Sri Lankans working in Indonesia participated.

The following committee has been appointed:

President Joefly Bahroeny, Executive Director Pt. Risijadson Sejahtera Agrobusiness, Vice President Suparman, Director Perum Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia, Jt. Secretary Randy Reckerman, Pt. Geologistics Indonesia, Jt. Secretary Dushantha Ranaraja, Advantage Indonesia, Treasurer Radius Christanto Pt. Askom.

Committee Praba Madhavan, Pt. Salil Agunag Imexcorp K.K.Ralhan, Pt. Kaltmex Energi, Jeremy Holmes, Advantage Indonesia, Rarouk Cader, Business Software Alliance, Rajiv Louis, Mahanusa Capital Ms. Alfiatun Sarasati, Perum Percetakan Uang Republik.

The Sri Lanka-Indonesia Business Council said that the formation of the counterpart council would not only strengthen trade and investment between Sri Lanka and Indonesia, but would also function as a facilitator for promoting bi-lateral relations between the two countries.

With the support of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Indonesia, the counterpart council would bridge the long drawn gap between business communities of Sri Lanka and Indonesia, by performing a role of an exchange of information and knowledge.

The Sri Lanka-Indonesia Business Council has commended the efforts of H.K.J.R. Bandara, Ambassador for Sri Lanka in Indonesia in forming the counterpart council and the initiative taken by Senaka Amarasinghe, Immediate Past President of the Sri Lanka-Indonesia Business Council, in establishing the counterpart council.

Patrick Rodrigo, the incumbent President of the Sri Lanka Indonesia Business Council said that together with their Indonesian counterpart, they could work towards the expansion of services for the membership by introducing business information exchange system to facilitate promotion of Trade, Investment, Joint ventures, Tourism and services between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
