Lokubandara yesterday informed Parliament that the Muslims will undoubtedly given a separate representation when Government commences discussions with the LTTE on the Interim Administrative structure for the North East. Replying to an adjournment motion by Minister Rauff Hakeem emphasizing the necessity to have a separate Muslim delegation at peace talks Minister Lokubandara said the Prime Minister who is now in India had assured that the Muslim concerns will be taken into account when discussions commence on the Interim Administration for the North East. "Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe asked me to inform this House that Muslims will be given separate representation when discussions commenced on Interim Administration proposals", Minister Lokubandara added. Minister Lokubandara told Parliament that the Government is optimistic that the talks on the Interim Administrative proposals will soon commence after the LTTE submits their proposals to the Government. "The talks will be positive and constructive", the Minister added. The members of Sri Lanka Freedom Party and other constituent parties of the PA and the TULF contributed for this adjournment debate endorsed that Muslims should be given a separate representation at peace talks. |
