The Unemployed Graduates' Union yesterday called at President's House for a meeting with senior Presidential advisors. The officials informed the unemployed graduates that a programme to address their grievances at the next would be drawn up at the Provincial Council Chief Minister's meeting to be held within a fortnight. The representatives of the union would be invited to this meeting to be chaired by the President. The Graduates' Union were given an assurance that President Chandrika Kumaratunga would take immediate steps to fill existing vacancies suitable for graduates, in Local Bodies with unemployed graduates, the Presidential Secretariat said. Responding to a question as to how a future PA government, proposes to resolve the unemployment problem among graduates, the officials said the details of the programme would be revealed at the proposed meeting. Senior Presidential Advisors, Mano Tittawella and Dr. Tara de Mel and Member of Parliament, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya participated at the discussions. |
