Team Caltex dominates its position again at Kandy Wace Park Team Caltex proved its power at Kandy Wace Park Speed Hill Climb last Sunday. Young Aravinda Premadasa of Team Caltex broke the record of his teammate Nishan Weerasuriya in the Super Car event by clocking 48.19 seconds in his Caltex Evolution 6. This was also the fastest timing recorded for the day. It is after an absence of five years that Aravinda competed in this particular track and what a performance it was keeping a large number of spectators spellbound. Nalin D. Perera also of Team Caltex secured second place in his Caltex Subaru Impreza in the Super Car event. Veteran Yoga Perera of the Team Caltex won first place in the modified 1350 - 16650cc category clocking a timing of 54.66 sec. driving his Havoline Mini. Of course yoga would have gone on to break the existing class record if he did not face some initial minor mishaps in the first run. Dammika Perera also powered his way to first place for Team Caltex winning the 10-12 Kg/Hp event along with the last minute decision to take part in the over 14.0 Kg/Hp paid off handsomely when he secured 1st place in this event as well. Nishan Wasalathanthri, Zakie Ismile and Javidth Wahab also secured second places for Team Caltex in their respective events. |
