Children's Day at ICC To commemorate Children's Day which falls on November 14 every year coinciding with the birthday of Shri Jawaharlal Nehru the first Prime Minister of India, the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Colombo will organise a painting, drawing and writing competition for children on Saturday November 15 from 10.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. at 133, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 4. Children interested in participating in the event may register their names in advance with the centre by calling Tel. 2500014. They are requested to come to the centre at 10.30 a.m. on November 15th, 2003. The entries done by children on that day would be sent to New Delhi for the Shankar's International Children's Competition 2004. The Shankar's International Children's Competition 2004 in the categories of writing, painting and drawing is open to children all over the world born on or after January 1, 1988. The competition was started in 1949 by late Shri Shankar Pillai, a celebrated cartoonist and recipient of several awards including Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan. The international participation in the competition has increased greatly over the years with children from over 130 countries participating and winning prizes. The last date for receipt of entries in New Delhi for the Shankar's Competition is 31st December, 2003. For more details please call the centre on 2500014. |
