Nishantha for US open carrom c'ship Moratuwa Sports Corr. Former Cambrian Nishantha Fernando rated as number one in Sri Lanka and number three in the world rankings in carrom has been selected to represent Sri Lanka in the 2nd US Open Carrom Championship to be held from October 13 to 20 at New Jersey, USA. Also he is rated as world number three in Carrom doubles with M. N. M. Sadurdeen. He brought honour to his country when he won a bronze medal at the SAARC championship held in Bangladesh recently. Sri Lanka won a medal after a lapse of five years. For this tour the players have to bear their own expenses and the amount is Rs. 125,000, Nishantha told the Daily News sports that he is unable to find this amount and he requests sports lovers to help him to find this amount.
