Sri Lanka 'A' shot out for 127 Sri Lanka 'A' batsmen floudered to pace as they were shot out for 127 off 43 overs by South Africa 'A' on the opening day of the 4-day unofficial Test played at Willowmoor Park, Benoni on Tuesday. Sri Lanka 'A' got off to a reasonable start after being put into bat first when Avishka Gunawardana and Ian Daniel added 30 for the first wicket in 11 overs. But South African paceman Zondeki bowled Gunawardana for 10 to start a Sri Lankan collapse where only skipper Russell Arnold stood firm battling it out for 68 minutes in the middle for a top score of 24. Thilan Thushara using the long handle hit 23 off 12 with two fours and a six. South Africa's three-pronged pace attack comprising Zondeki, Kruger and Telemachus took all nine wickets to fall to the bowlers with Naveed Nawaz being run out without scoring. Nuwan Zoysa broke through early for Sri Lanka by having Amla caught behind by Prasanna Jayawardene without scoring, but Puttick and van Jaarsveld prevented any further losses taking South Africa 'A' to 105 for one off 31 overs. |
