Over 800 entries have been received for the 5th LSR International Marathon to be held in Dambulla on 5th October 2003. Many Foreign teams have entered for this event amongst them are Japanese, Kenyan and British.

Nine events are scheduled to be held at this Marathon. Full Marathon, Open Men, Women, Half Marathon Open Men, Women, Full Marathon Masters, Men, Women, Family Run and a fun run of 5 km for school children.

All finishers of the Full Marathon Men and Women will receive a cash award of Rs. 1000, and the first will receive 10,000, second Rs. 7500, third Rs. 5000 and medals. All finishers of the half Marathon Men and Women will receive a cash and awards of Rs. 500 each and the first will receive Rs. 5000, second Rs. 3000, and third Rs. 2000 plus medals.

The event will start at 6.00 a.m. from Dambulla town, the organisers are assisted by the Ministry of Central Province Development, Central Provincial Council, SriLankan Airlines, Mahaweli Authority, Sri Lanka Tourist Board, Athletic Association of Sri Lanka.
