They represent the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Canada, which is a state agency providing direct patient care for people with mental health and addiction problems. The Centre is also a research facility, an education and training institute and a community based organization providing health promotion and prevention services across the province of Ontario, Canada. CAMH is a Pan American Health Organization and World Health Organization Collaborating Centre.

Team members comprise Dr Paul Garfinkel - President and CEO of CAMH. Dr Trevor Young - Physician-in-Chief, CAMH Dr Arun Ravindran - Head of Psychopharmacology Research

Chief of Inpatient Service - Mood & Anxiety Program

Mr Akwatu Khenti - Director, International Health Development,

Mr John Trainor - Director, Community Service and Research Unit

Ms Georgina Veldhorst - VP, North York General Hospital

Mr Chris Pullenayegem - Consultant, International Development

They plan to meet representatives from every level of both the government and non-governmental sectors to ascertain the scope of and challenges to the mental health sector in Sri Lanka.

They would also, in the course of this fact-finding mission explore areas of potential partnerships in the development of this sector. The team would be in Sri Lanka from October 21st to 25th.

Members of the team would also hold a seminar where findings of leading edge research on brain and depression/mood disorder studies conducted by Dr Young and the institute would be presented.

Growing and mutually beneficial partnerships in the Caribbean, Mexico, India and the Baltic states funded in part by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) are the results of past missions of CAMH in the international arena.
