Famous Pacific expands services in India Famous Pacific Shipping, the growing Asia Pacific-based freight services and NVOCC operator, is expanding its presence and services in India with the appointment of a new general agent to coordinate activities there. Mumbai-based LCL Group has taken over as the new representative for the FPS network in India. "Members of the FPS network around the world are handling more and more trade to and from India," said Benny Ling, Chairman of FPS. "It can be a very complicated market in which to operate so local expertise is a prerequisite. "General agents are central to our network and their calibre sets the standard for the services we provide around the world. Working together in a network allows our agents to negotiate favourable rates from carriers and retain control of cargoes throughout the transport chain. "And in addition, our agents around the world have, like LCL Group, vast knowledge of local conditions and even business opportunities for our customers," he said. "The expert team at LCL Group will help us to build our business in India, a market with vast potential that many of our customers wish to serve. The link fits in with our plans at FPS to expand the global network of services and partners." Today LCL has offices in all the major metropolitan points in India and is present at the country's ICDs. FPS is well established in the key Asian markets and continues to expand its global presence and develop new business. It recently announced service developments in China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Spain and Portugal. Famous Pacific Shipping network is represented in Sri Lanka by Famous Pacific Shipping Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., a founder member of the group. |
