Most university students lack moral qualities - Nayaka Thera

Bingiriya Group Corr

"Most of university students of our country seem to be lacking moral qualities today and it is a bad omen of our future.

The recent clashes at the Jayawardenapura University clearly show a severe decline in discipline in the minds of our future leaders. Their minds are polluted with violent thoughts due to political influences and such future leaders will be a curse to the future of this country" said Ven. Kadigamuwe Medhankara Nayaka Thera addressing a conference of school prefects of the North Western Province held recently at Bingiriya Youth Training Centre.

The Nayaka Thera said that students should be equipped with a sound understanding of meaningful religious concepts and more time should be allocated for religious education in the school timetable.

The Nayaka Thera explained that schoolchildren will become victims of dangerous anti-social elements if teachers and parents don't act with intelligence and vigilance.
