Strokes, third biggest killer worldwide - Professor

A public lecture on "Changes in Life style can prevent Strokes" organised by The Education and Training Functional Committee of the Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Sri Lanka was held at the Organization of Professional Associations (OPA) Auditorium on September 20.

Consultant Neurologist Prof. Saman Gunathilake said strokes were the third biggest killer worldwide. The lecture highlighted likely causes of strokes. He said strokes were also referred to as brain attacks. It had been established that stress related strokes was common among people who led a busy and stressful life style. Prof.Gunathilake explained the ways in which a life style could be modified for better healthy living and to avoid strokes.

The seminar was sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd and Pat Cargo (Pvt) Ltd, and was well attended.
