Earl's Regency tennis tourney from September 26 to 28 The Inaugural Earl's Regency Hard Court Tennis Tournament 2003 will be conducted at Earl's Regency Hotel Tennis Court from 26th September to 28th September . This tournament is organised by the Earl's Regency Hotel and Kandy Tennis Association for tennis players residing in Central Province. Anura Dissanayake, the President of Kandy Tennis Association and Consultant Engineer of Aitken Spence Hotels commended Roshan Fernando, General Manager of Earl's Regency Hotel and his staff for organising this tournament to promote tennis in Central Province. He also stated that this would be a great opportunity for the schoolchildren in Central Province to experience to play on a world class hard court. A large number of schoolchildren have already entered the tournament and the entries would close on 24th September, '03. Many leading private sector organisations are sponsoring this tournament and attractive prizes will be given to the winners. Every participant will be presented with a certificate of participation. Events of the tournament are singles, girls and boys under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 singles and doubles men's, women's, veterans and mixed doubles. Roshan Fernando who is a keen tennis player is hoping to promote tennis among the schoolchildren in Central Province on a voluntary basis with free coaching camps etc. |
