Main aim of JVP to plunge country into anarchy - Azwer

"The JVP seems to be in a hurry to send this government home. I should remind them that people of this country voted the Ranil Wickremesinghe government into power not to go home but to stay in power. Stay in power and do a job of work for the well-being of the people.

That was the clear mandate given to the UNF government by the people of this country at the general election held on December 5, 2001", said the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs A. H. M. Azwer, at the Jana Sewa rally held at Kosgashandiya, Colombo, presided by Alhaj Mohamed Maharoof, Minister of Urban Public Utilities.

Minister of Economic Reform and Technology Milinda Moragoda, Mayor of Colombo Prasanna Gunawardena together with Minister Maharoof launched several development schemes in the area.

The main feature was the laying of foundation stones for a Super Market at Stace Road by 12 Colombo Municipal Counsellors on that day.

Minister Azwer also said that certain frustrated elements who call themselves partners in the PA opposition are also lending under hand support to the JVP with the belief that they could grab Ministry portfolios by inducing the JVP to stage demonstrations, but unfortunately before long they would realize that the country is in no mood to change this government.

"They should clearly understand that the government has presently undertaken gigantic tasks of development throughout the island, which would ultimately bring good results to the poor masses of the country. These vicious elements who believe that they would not form a government without the support of the JVP have been soundly and roundly rapped by the President herself. Rabble rousers and communal mongers have no place in society. The main aim of the JVP is to de-stabilize the government and plunge the country into chaos and anarchy.

In Marxist theology there is no place for communalism. Marxists and Trotskyites totally reject communalism.

Shamelessly, and in an anti-Marxist like manner, the JVP is sowing the communal seed everywhere. They would not even concede the fact that devolution of power is the only way to help the minorities in this country share power and live in a united Sri Lanka.
