Justice Gunasekera's funeral today The funeral of Supreme Court Judge Justice D.P.S. Gunasekera will be held at the General Cemetery, Borella today, September 24 at 5.p.m. Justice Gunasekera died on Monday morning after a prolonged illness at his residence in Bhathiya Mawatha, Kalubovila, Dehiwela. Justice Gunasekera leaves two daughters, Avanthi and Solani. He was the eldest son of late D.D.D. Gunasekera and Laticia Gunasekera of Gampola. Kidney donor sought urgently Mrs. W. A. Manoranjanee Sirimevan (39), a mother of two of Medakumbura Watta, Beligammana, Mawanella is suffering from end stage kidney failure and Dr. A. W. M. Wazil, Consultant Nephrologist, Kandy General Hospital has recommended dialysis and an urgent kidney transplant operation to save her life. Mrs, Sirimevan is in need of an "O" (positive or negative) blood group kidney to facilitate this operation. Chandu Hashan Witharana of Bibilawatta, Imbulpe, Balangoda is suffering from an acute heart ailment. Dr. S. Narenthiran, Paediatric Cardiologist, Lady Ridgeway Hospital, Colombo has recommended urgent heart surgery to save his life. The surgery to be done at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital is estimated to cost around Rs. 300,000. Chandu's father M. R. Sarath Witharana says he is presently unemployed and not in a position to foot this bill. He requests philanthropists and the public to assist his son's cause by sending whatever financial contributions possible.
